2008 Events Guide Errata and Updates

The 2008 Events Guide contains a number of inaccuracies and a number of details have changed since its publication. If in doubt about details for any meeting, please contact the appropriate organiser.

A general list of errata and updates can be found on the BL-BS website here - check for updates. Errata for meetings in Scotland can be found below.

Summary list - pages 4-8
Note that although the preamble to the list states that "BL-BS Meetings shot for BL-BS medals are listed in BOLD type", four BL-BS in Scotland clout meetings and the Society's Open Come and Try event (which may be of particular interest to our non-shooting members) have not been entered in bold type. The meetings concerned are:
  • Sunday 30th March: BL-BS Spring Forward Clout
  • Sunday 27th April: BL-BS Andrew MacKay Memorial Clout
  • Sunday 6th July: BL-BS Scottish Longbow Display and "Come and Try" event
  • Sunday 7th September: BL-BS Harvest Clout
  • Sunday 5th October: BL-BS Autumn Clout
Note also that there will be the usual optional clout sweep (entry 50p) at each of the clout meetings.
Scottish Clout Series - page 12
First paragraph, line 3: Please read "…qualifying rounds i.e. the eight clout shoots in Scotland."

List of Clout Series shoots: Please note that the Andrew MacKay Arrows will be awarded as usual to the winners at the meeting held in his memory in April.

Also note that the Clout Series medals, Crystal Bowls and Salvers will be presented after the BL-BS Autumn Clout in October when refreshments will be served.
Andrew MacKay Memorial Clout Meeting - page 20
The correct address is: the old Golf Range, Craigie, Ayr.

Please note that the Andrew MacKay Arrows will be awarded as usual to the winners of this meeting.
Zingari Meeting - page 21
The entry incorrectly states that Morning coffee will be available in the Orangery from 10.00am. The only catering at this meeting will be light afternoon refreshments at the end of the shoot.

Please note that the Assembly time is 10.30am for First Arrows at 11.00am.

Please note that Culzean Country Park charges entry fees to visitors though entry is free to members of the National Trusts on production of a valid membership card. The fees printed for this meeting are now long out of date.
Celtic Nations Clout Meeting - page 26
N.B. Sunday 8th June is correct, not Saturday as on Entry Form.

Please note that the time for Assembly should read 10.30am, and the time for First Arrows should read 11.00am.

The Celtic Nations Trophies will be awarded to both the senior and junior teams.
Scottish Longbow Display and "Come and Try" - page 28
Please note that the wrong Organiser has been identified for this event. The correct details are:
Event Organiser: Laura McBrien, 179 Hyndland Road, Glasgow, G12 9HT; telephone 0141 357 3157 / e-mail: laura@mcbriens.net

Also note that the NTS will also be providing a variety of other activities and displays suitable for all the family, and that the members of the public taking part in the archery will be supervised by experienced archers at all times.
Green Hollow Clout Meeting - page 29
Please do not try to contact the Organiser for this meeting through the BL-BS in Scotland website.

N.B. The Patron's Medals will not be awarded at this shoot this year. However, the usual small BL-BS medals will be awarded to the winners of the shoots-off by ends.

Note also that the entry fee includes morning coffee, a buffet lunch between rounds and full afternoon tea at the end of shooting.
5th Silver Arrow Wand Meeting - page 32
For clarification, the entry fee includes full afternoon tea at the end of shooting.
Scottish Albion - pages 32-33
Please note that the entry details state that tea and refreshments will be available. The only catering at this meeting will be light afternoon refreshments at the end of the shoot.
Autumn Clout Meeting - page 38
Please note that the Scottish Clout Series medals, Crystal Bowls and Salvers will be presented after the BL-BS Autumn Clout in October when refreshments will be served at no extra charge.
